Removal of Lien - Paid Judgement

I screwed up and ignored the small claims notices and a creditor won a default judgement against me (Massachusetts). They sent it to the Deputy Sherrif and a lien was filed against my home. I finally took my head out of the stand, appeared in court and made an agreement to pay the creditor in full within 30 days. I paid in full about a month ago however looking at the Registry of Deeds online, the lien (execution order) still appears.

Does anyone know if this lien will be removed soon or do I need to take action to remove it?

    Thanks for your help!

Did you receive a legal release or satisfaction of the judgment when you paid if off? That should have been obtained and recorded with the appropriate government office in your county. If you did, then the lien should be updated and removed within about 30 days or so.

I have not received that yet but will follow up to get that.

Just wanted to add that it may take a long time for the removal of the lien to show online. The city only accepts certified docs and to the lawyers, this is just busy work. We did a chapter 7 (yours is different because it's not a bankruptcy) over a year ago and the lien still shows as valid. The lawyer pretty much told me he has a stack of them to get to but it's time consuming. Keep at 'em until you get the release form!
