I just recieved my credit report and have 2 accounts that are reporting a current status of 120+ Past due all though the accounts have a zero balance and are closed. I called the CRA and was told that because these accounts were collection accounts there is nothing they can do. The accounts are not showing as collection on my report. One account was paid off 10/2000 and the other was paid off and the other was paid off about 6 months ago. These are my only negative accounts and are bringing my scores way down. I am not asking that the accounts be removed from my credit file, just the current status of being 120+ days past due. Please help if you can, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This in not fair and accurate reporting. Who is the creditor.

One of the creditors is of course Capital One Bank, and the other is Associate/Citibank SD.

I have had and continue to have similar headaches. In my case, it was a BK Ch7 but I was NEVER late.

Search under OC or original and validate, there are some good recent threads on the topic.

The basic strategy is to send a strongly worded request for validation/proof of data or removal as inaccurate. When you get the receipt (green card) from the CRRR, you send disputes to all CRAs. In theory, they will not get verification and the boogers drop like flies off your CR. In practice, it may take a few tries.

My first attempt took two tries and got 2 out of 3 removed. I have just started on another.

How would I go about writing these letters. All of the searches pull up letters just to validate that the account is theirs. I just need the current status to post as Paid or Paid as agreed.
