My DH added me to his Sears as an AU prior to marriage in California, where we live. He since defaulted on the account, and ended up paying a settlement to RMA. (Before we found this board) Now there is little chance for him to wrangle a deletion. The DOLA is 10/1999. RMA never showed on my report. Does someone have experience with getting Sears to remove you as an AU? Is this okay even if it is my spouse? If you did what method did you use? Do you have a copy of the letter(s) you sent them? I want to remove this one and then wait a few months and his parents are willing to add me to theirs as an AU for a 100% perfect account, which could only help me. Secondly since RMA is considered paid, is there any hope of him getting Sears to remove their original TL? Goodwill letter? Sending in my firstborn child? Threats? Nutcase? Thanks!
I removed several AU's from my credit reports. I had my wife remove me from the accounts, then I disputed as not mine. They came off pretty quick.
Same here, call the co. ask them to take you off as AU then dispute as not mine. Mine came off no problem on all CRA
I called Sears today and after looking up my AU status with my SSN, I said I had no idea why I was listed on that persons account. It was almost TOO EASY. No questions asked, she stated I would be removed, have a letter sent to me within 7 days. She said they take 30 days to report to all 3 CRAs and they can sometimes take another 30 to update. I will wait till I get the letter in my hand before I dispute since I have some other things in dispute. I am wondering how much my score will go up? And will it matter in a month or two if someone else with a better credit standing adds me as their AU? I want to wait in between to see the difference in my scoring.
My wife added sears to my account for aging purposes. She had the account since 92, and my score went up 26 points.
