i have what appears to be $100 debt from Pacific Bell dating back to probably '96 or so...it looks like it was placed for collection w/ a CA in 2000, and another CA in 2002...not sure if it's even mine...how should i dispute? thanks, kris
Send a validation letter to both CA's (if both are on your reports still), and as soon as you know it was received, dispute it with the CRA's. If you don't know whether or not it may or may not be yours, and you don't feel comfortable saying "NOT MINE", just say "I have no knowledge of this account." (Which is why you requested that knowledge from the CA's, via the validation letters. )
