I saw a post on here before about removing old addresses, but after 3 different searches have not found any info on how to do this. Can anyone let me know. I just got an Experian report from Credit Expert and it has EVERY address I ever lived at in my life, including one I never lived at. I saw a comment somewhere where someone said call and tell them you never lived there. Well, can I really call and tell them to remove 10 addresses?
I've called and requested more than one incorrect address removed. They did it over the phone ... no problem.
I faxed a letter to Experian at 1-972-390-1680 and asked them to remove 15 addresses, 2 wrong phone numbers, and an incorrect former employer. You can also mail the letter to Exp. Here's the letter I sent (the original is somewhere on the site): Name Address City, State Zip SS# DOB Date Experian P.O. Box 9556 Allen, TX 75013 Dear Experian: I am writing because there is personal information on my credit report that is inaccurate, and I am requesting that it be removed from my credit report entirely. 1) I respectfully request that all previous addresses be removed as they are obsolete, incorrect, and/or inaccurate: Incorrect Address #1 Incorrect Address #2 Incorrect Address #3, etc The ONLY address that is correct and should be listed is my current address of: (LIST CURRENT ADDRESS). 2) Please remove (XXX COMPANY) from the EMPLOYERS section. I have never worked for this company. 3) Please remove (INCORRECT PHONE NUMBER#1) and (INCORRECT PHONE NUMBER #2) from the TELEPHONE NUMBERS section, as these phone numbers are incorrect, disconnected, and no longer current. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me by phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX or by fax at XXX-XXX-XXXX. Very Truly Yours, YOUR NAME Should be no problemo! MisterX
I would just write a letter listing the inaccurate addresses and asking for them to remove them. Sometimes it feels weird listing so many addresses on a phone call. That is how I got all of mine off.
I'm not a big fan of calling the bureau's, but I wouldn't bother writing before I simply called Experian at 800 583 4080 and asked them to remove the old addresses. I got 14 addresses and a bad driver's license number removed in less than 5 minutes! Why wait? Why write? At least, why do it before you try getting them deleted by phone? They do not grill you, I promise: "Did you ever live in Timbuktu on 47 Ur Drive?" "No way." "It's deleted." Oh! But DON'T call CreditExpert's number and ask them to do it! My person told me I had to write Experian and the ONLY reason I knew that I didn't have to is because of this site!
So what exactly do you/or did you guys say when you called?? Mine are vaild, just old! They do seem to list every place I've ever lived (about 7). How's this: "Hello, I have several addresses on my credit report that are invalid or obsolete and I'm requesting that they be removed" If they were just an old address did you still say you didn't live there? Just curious. Yes, I am one big chicken. Thinking the letter sounds better all the time. I can hear Dr. Phil telling me to just get over it! LOL!! I guess I just want to know what sounds the best in making the request. I disputed one before in writing, it was actually a place I used to work and they said "too bad" if a creditor ever reported it, it stays no matter what. I guess that's why I'm shying away from this. Wonder if they still have that dispute on file. Thanks. Sorry if I'm making this harder than it has to be. Just trying to get brave enough to try it and just want to know what verbage worked for you guys. I ordered my report tonight and plan to call after I get it. Newstdt
You don't need to be brave. Like I have said before, think of the CRA's like you would of any private organization. If the kid at Starbucks asks you if you ever lived on XXX DRIVE, would you care about lying to him? Nah. Experian and Starbucks are just companies like anyone else. Starbucks sells coffee and Experian collects information. Just keep in mind that your information is none of their business! http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...d=41605&highlight=removing+previous+addresses
I 'm going to be stern with you so just fair warning. All in love. I can't beleive you!, How are you gonna let some machine tell you where you have lived all your life? And on top of that someone you dont even know is telling you where you lived reading your life like a book and you are scared? Are who you say you are, or are you who THEY say you are? Are you a peice of paper? or information on the computer screen.? Get real!
6 posts and already sounding like a troll...hmmmm If you had read any other posts in the archives you'd see others HAVEN'T had the same luck in getting a rep who just says "okay". AND, I also said I'd already TRIED TO DISPUTE and Ex told me no. I just asked a SIMPLE question: "what did you say?", TO LEGIT MEMBERS WHO HAVE HAD THEM REMOVED. I get your general drift, I KNOW they're just a company, but why should it bother YOU about what I think or how I feel about it. Geez, just when things almost seem normal on here it starts up again.
If I am a troll, I hate to hear what you'd call Dr. Phil. Yeah, I only have 6 post, for good reason, I was warned about people like you on this site. Say what you will, but it takes one to know one ... AND You're still scared to call!
Just t let everyone know I called exp, told them there were incorrect addresses on my report and one bad current phone number (they had my currnt and old second line from the days when I had dialup), she asked which ones, told her, hat was it. Checked today, 3 dayslater, they are gone. No big deal. Wow, if everything else with them were this easy there would be no need for this board
