when I got married, being determined to "increase" in length of my credit history, I added myself onto wifes CC's.

Now, I would like to be removed as joint, (im not listed as an AU) because a maxed out card is hurting both our scores.

Beiing that i never signed the original app (if there was one and it was not by phone), can anyone tell me/help me remove myself as Joint?

can i tell the bank that i was AU, never joint? And If i was joint, can I force the bank to show proof that im a joint?

the account is current, and open, BTW.

    thanks!

I ENDED UP CLOSING THE ACCOUNTS!!!

They kept on asking what marital problems we were having that I wanted her off the "JOINT" accounts...

    DIVORCE???
    SEPARATION???
    DEATH???
    LONG TERM HOSPITALIZATION???

NO---I JUST WANT HER TO GET HER OWN CREDIT HISTORY SO "IF" SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME...SHE HAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT (CREDIT WISE)...

"SORRY WE CAN'T REMOVE HER THEN"

    OK CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!!!

I haven't had much luck getting a joint accountholder removed, either. Usually the person who wants to keep the account has to reapply (and risk getting turned down). I wonder if the one person applied, was turned down, would they cancel the joint account if you haven't?

GEORGE, even divorce didn't help me. I've gotten my ex off of all but one of my accounts, but it seems that I'm still on several of his. When I dispute, it comes back verified. When I contact the creditor, they say he will have to reapply. Since those are his accounts, there doesn't seem to be much that I can do.

    I want to be "sepearate"...

as in "if she declares bankruptcy this afternoon im not responsible"...

How would THEY prove I am responsible, that im not an AU?

I mean, can I submit validation, any way to make them prove that I am a joint as they say?

I have been trying to get my name off of a "joint account" for three months now. I never applied for the card, my credit and income were not used as the basis for issuing the card, I thought I was an AU. I've asked for proof that this is my card but get only a form response that the account is being reported correctly. Even more frustrating, they won't talk to me on the phone because I am only an AU, yet report it as mine to the CRA's. The last letter to them came from my attorney, we'll see if that gets their attention.
