How does a judgment get renewed? Will I be served or do they just go to the courthouse and ask to renew it?
They don't have to go anywhere. It just needs to be re-entered into the public record of the county where it was heard. This will get the document a new instrument number (Book/Page Number). At my office it cost 6 bucks and you can even re-new by mail. Next year you will be able to renew automatically on-line if you have an escrow account with us. The judgment will just auto-renew each year. If they have $6 in the escrow account.
