I've been going back 'n forth with a CA on a paid collection for a few months now. Well, mostly forth (from me!) Anyway, I finally got a smarmy letter from their corporate counsel and all of a sudden my once "Paid Collection" is now "Renewed/Refinanced" according to Equifax. It still has a $0 balance, but WTF? What does this mean in terms of FICO? Worse than a paid collection? It's still showing as a collection account, just "Renewed" instead of "Paid". The hell is that all about?
I don't know if it is worse for it to show "renewed" instead of "Paid" but I think you have ammunition to contact the CRA to dispute the tradeline. "I have never agreed to renewed or refinanced anything with that company." Might get lucky and have the CRA delete. Chris B
Yeah, that or "previously verified"....or "frivolous" I'm just going to have to do that dance with the CA I guess.
Re: Re: "Renewed" paid? I know most people don't fully agree with calling anyone while doing credit repair, but this sounds like a case that a phone dispute might be better if they've done the "Frivolous" to you for disputing something. You know for sure that the status of it has been changed so the CA has updated it, so your disputes to the CA have caused some actions. You might be able to dance with both the CA and the CRA and make a few quick bucks out of it. ChrisB
Re: Re: "Renewed" paid? Hmmm...well today the account is still listed as "Refinanced/Renewed" but now the account type is N/A (open) versus collection (closed).....AND my PG score dropped 3 points for this? RNG!! I'm not sure if the complaint w/ the A.G. for CA's state on Monday had anything to do with this recent change. I'm still keeping my eye on this account to see what the CA tries to change w/ the other CRAs. And no, I won't accept an N/A account....either validate or delete.
