Since RENTAL CAR COMPANIES basically will only accept CREDIT CARDS...if they have a big used rental car sale in the state on one SATURDAY...would they "WELCOME" a purchase of a vehicle for 100% CREDIT CARD???
I know this doesn't answer your question but here are a couple of things: Having sold cars before and having worked at a rental car company before, I can tell you buying a rental car is a BAD idea. Usually they have really really high miles, and they're usually treated like crap both by the renters and the company. Also, I don't know if you'd want to purchase it with a CC for obvious reasons, but I figure you're probably desparate if you're resorting to this and realize the cons to begin with. But, I just thought I'd let you know from someone who's had some experiences with rental cars and car sales.
This may be kind of a dumb answer but I would imagine they would welcome just about any kind of tender you could scrape together. However, I'd always heard that retired rental cars are a bad investment, as the previous poster mentioned. Good luck! Poochie
Thats interesting. My parents both worked for Hertz in the early 60's when I was just a twinkle in their eye They swore by purchasing rental cars because they flipped their inventory before the high miles, and because the maintenance on them was excellent. Maybe times have changed?
Maintenance is one thing, but how the RENTERS treat the cars after they rent them is another. I speak from experience in my good ol teenage years...I was a bad boy.
Again, I can speak from experience that rental car companies are struggling financially and i've seen them cut corners in the maintenance of their cars. Plus, the transportation between locations, treatment by renters, and just generally high miles make them a really bad idea.
JUST THINKIN' DOUBLE MILEAGE... Very few people have had LUCK at new car dealers paying IN FULL on a car WITH A CREDIT CARD...
Re: Re: Rental Car Sales ...BUT look at it this way...you have a fender bender fixed on your credit card...oil change on your credit card...buy tires on your credit card...rent a car while your car is fixed on your credit card...buy parts for your car on your credit card....
Re: Re: Rental Car Sales ARE THEY SELLING THE LOT EMPTY??? OR DO THEY HAVE A FULL LOT??? If one is ready to buy with their credit card...AND YOU AGREE ON A PRICE...PULL OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD...ARE THEY GOING TO SAY NO??? IF THEY SAY NO AND YOU WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE NEXT DEALER UP THE ROAD...DID THEY WIN BY SAVING THAT FEE???
Re: Re: Rental Car Sales I had a real hassle with a harley dealer in daytona but finally bought it on delta skymiles card he was pissed. I told him I would finance through them for 6.9 or less they couldn't touch it 11.99 I think
Re: Re: Rental Car Sales I agree 100% w/ flpngino, my first job was in a rental car company, the only maintenance I can recall is oil charge, sometime we are so busy ( no car on the lot but 3 reservation on hand) the guys just pour some motor oil..You don't wanna hear the horror stories I seen there.. Buying a rental car is a very very bad choice...
