Your total electric cost will still be more than it was because consumption will increase. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's as LOGICAL as saying...if you buy a second fridge you will eat more... GEORGE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Do You Really Think that you can run 2 FRIDGES on the same amount of electric as it takes for only one?
Actually, I have a large shed that I do my work in now so I am already paying for the extra power ( and man does a welder suck up the electricity) We are lucky here and pay a flat rate per KWH for electricity, ( plus the base charge which is also flat rate ) no matter how much you use or the time of day. I must be doing something right in my quest to lower our utility usage. We average $100/mth for power while my neighbor, who has a similar size house, pays over $250/mth. Of course, at night he has every light on in his place. Must be nice to have that much extra money.
You hadn't said that before. That is why I said adding a garage would increase the amount of Elect.used.
I'm on Allegheny Power. My bill averages $77 per Mo.including the base charge. This is for the house, a 30x56 4 car garage and a 22+76 6 stall metal Bld. all on one meter. Also I have 33 outside lights . Most of them have 200 and 300 watt bulbs. If I had 2 meters it would jump my cost to $82 a Mo.because of the $5 base charge for each meter. ________This is what I meant when I said adding a 2Nd. meter would increase your Elect.bill.
My Elect.Co. charges a $5.00 base charge for each meter. The base charge on 2 meters would total $10.oo. $42 would pay for 8 meters here. That's hardly gouging.I guess at $42 they shouldn't add any more for extra meters as you're already paying for them wither you have them or not.
You meter must be malfuntioning. We pay 6.7cents per kilowatt hour which I understand is very low. I heard some places were/are paying 50 cents plus per KWH. A 300 watt bulb, used for 8 hours a day costs about $4/mth. Your 33 bulbs would cost a hell of a lot more than what you say your bill is. I am also not disputing your bill. I lived in a apartment where I ran my repair business. At any one time I could have 20 vcrs, 20 tv's, numerous stereos, computers etc. running. My bill was $11/mth. It was my first place so I had no idea what power should cost. I moved 2 years later and my bill jumped 18 times what I had been paying.
$5? I wish. Where do you live and what is your rate per KWH. The "gouging" statement came about because some RRO's here are charging 20cents per KWH, $250 to hook up your service and $100/mth base charge. It is Canadian funds, but it is still alot ( to me )
If your power Co.would charge $5 per meter like they do here your Elect. bill would drop from $1oo to $68 thus beating my $77.
1*Ohio 3.6 cents From Allegheny Power Co. 2*REAs and Elect. Co Op rates are usually higher than a private Elect.Co.Is this what you mean by RROs? 3*Are you in Cansda? Who is your power Co.?Are they a private Co or not?
I have Renter Ins. in NC and I pay $202/yr for $65k of coverag with State Farm. A real handy thing is on the Nationwide web site, they have a "booklet" you can print and it takes you room by room, where you can walk through and record everything. It's also my opinion that if you live in a house or apartment that you go through and take pictures of everything in there if you're like 90% of people and don't have receipts showing what you own. I have over 500 CDs and with that many, it's an investment almost. By the way, my laptop - they'll only pay $200 for it because it's portable and easy to steal. Is there a rider I can get for it, specifically?
The renter isn't trying to get coverage on the house The insure dosen't have to pay for the house The owner already has insurance on the house by another insurer -------------------------- My question is why all the concern about the specs. of the house ?
You should be able to get some kind of personal articles floater - I don't know for sure. Call and ask.
