   I have heard that after 6 years from the date of filing chapter 7 bankruptcy you can file again. I also heard that the filing can only be done 6 years from the date of discharge. Which, if either, is correct.

   section 727 (a) (9) of the bankruptcy code prohibits the filing of a new chapter 7 petition within 6 years of the filing of a chapter 7 (or chapter 11) petition
   
   It doesn't mention discharge date, only date of petition
