Report to FTC after 30-day validation period passed?

I had a perfect credit score and only recently I found out a credit item on my report. I hadn't received any mail/phone call from the CA but I still contacted them to request validation for this item.

Now 32 days have passed and I received nothing back. Just contacted the CRA and the agent told me all they can do is to file a dispute with the CA and wait for another 30+ days. They are not regulated by the FDCP and can't remove the item now. He suggested me to contact the CA or FTC directly to have it removed.

I was wondering what I should do. Should I 1) send all the proof to the CRA and request them to remove by writing 2) or just wait till the CRA finishes the dispute investigation, 3) or contact the CA to ask them to remove the item, 4) or contact FTC to file a complaint, 5) or sue the CA?

    Thanks a lot.

I would definitely start an official dispute through all 3 CRAs if you haven't done that yet. Then you'll just have to wait until they complete their investigation.

I would also give the CA just a little bit more time to respond to your DV letter. If they don't respond after about 45 days, then you may want to send another letter demanding that they remove the collection altogether.

You can file a complaint with the FTC too, but it probably won't do much for you other than make you feel better about the whole situation.
