One time I had my wallet stolen. I caught it in time and cancelled all my credit cards. The cc companies sent me new ones with new account numbers. The problem is, they are showing up on my credit reports as with the notations "lost or stolen". Are these affecting my scores negatively and has anyone had any luck in getting these removed? Is it worth my time to try to get them taken off.
I lost a credit card once and have a "lost or stolen" label in my Equifax file, but not the other two. The nice thing about it is it looks like a closed trade line paid in full. The new trade line (replacement number) has the full history of the original account. With these two things in mind, I would say that it could help you, but don't quote me.
I just received my Exoperian report and I have a "lost/ stolen" notation, and it is under potentially negative items. I must then assume this notation is affecting my score in a downward fashion. I have written to Cap 1 asking for an update/ deletion, just waiting on a reply.
I HAD A CARD LOST IN THE MAIL... They reported it LOST/STOLEN...(people assume you lost it)... I TOLD THEM TO REPORT IT AS "CARD LOST IN MAIL"...THEY SAID NO ABOUT FIVE TIMES...FINALLY ON THE SIXTH TRY, IT WAS GONE. IT IS POTENTIALLY NEGATIVE...ONE WOULD ASSUME YOU LOST IT!!!
