Reported Twice

    Hello everyone,

I am new here and I have been lurking around your posts for some time. I wish I would have found this site before I started to repair my credit. I have had lots of old collections and CO's that I have paid or settled but are being reported with negative remarks.

My current issue is... I had an AT&T account in collections that was paid. The problem is that part of the company was sold to Comcast. My credit report from EQ has both accounts on it with the same account number. The AT&T account is reporting that the account has not been paid with a balance of $129. The other is being reported as paid from Comcast for $130. I should also mention that the CA's are different. I called the one that is reporting the incorrect information and the rep. was not able to find a AT&T account. How could this be if it is being reported? So my plan is to send a letter of verification to the CRA for removal.

So, here is the question I just started working with a credit counselor who for has been helpful so far and comes highly recommended. She told me that I should send all three CRA the dispute letters even though the item is not on their files because sometimes CR's tend to "jump" from one CRA to another. If i do this my fear is that TRANS and EX will start to report the past paid collection account from Comcast adding one more negative remark to my report. Any advice?

    Thanks,
    Msbigbones

Okay, so I only sent one dispute letter EQ. I hope I did the right thing. I did not get a reply from anyone.

Send a dispute letter to the AT&T CA by certified mail.

    Thanks! I will do that.

Anyone have advice re: sending the other CRA's dipute letters even if they are not reporting? To block possible CRA "jumps?"
