Reporting of Merged Accounts

I have a question for folks who have combined multiple accounts into one. How do the banks report the accounts (to the CRAs) after they have been combined. Is one of the accounts reported as "closed"?

I have considered combining my two Capital One accounts into one. One was opened in Nov 1996 while the other was opened in May 2000. I'm worried that if I ask Cap One to combine the accounts, the older tradeline may disappear.

    Thanks.

I think it may state transferred, I did this with my Citi cards but haven't seen the results yet.

Probably would say "CLOSED AT CONSUMERS REQUEST" BALANCE $0

MIGHT SAY TRANSFERRED doubt it though.

KEEP THE OLDEST ACCOUNT...(even though an account that is newer than two years old is bad also, to a point).
