Does anyone have any general guidelines for requesting credit increases every 6-months on CC's without resulting in hard CR pulls? Do most CC's use soft pulls since they can pull under the "periodic account review" status?

Just wondering if there is specific verbiage to use in telling the CC company "I'd like to request a credit limit increase, but if and only if you don't perform a hard pull."

I've played it safe by calling CS and asking whether a line increase is available without requiring a CR inquiry. Their computers let them know what's available, and if you want more they pull the hard one to see if your request is justified. Some cards allow you to request a CL increase online, but I'm not convinced that the response you receive is generated from their iternal computations or whether the online request can lead to a hard pull.

"I would like to know if I could get a PRE-APPROVED limit increase...NO INQUIRY"

"IT IS NOT WORTH A HARD"

    THEY DO AR'S EVERY MONTH...THEY DON'T NEED A HARD!!!
