I have decided not to apply for anything for atleast six months, thentoday I get a lovely invitation prequalified for the Juniper card. Well they denied me about 3 months back and my report doesn't look any different, plus there are more inquiries to boot LOL, so I think this is a standard invitation sent out randomly.

They offered 7.9 for life of the BT if I transfer at the time of the application and transfer 2 balances, the apr is 13.99 for purchases .

But even though I am tempted and like the life of the BT deal, I am going to throw it out, goodness all this temptation......................

    bailey,

Go to apply for Juniper Bank because it's easier to get Juniper Mastercard through the invitation. I got a couple of offers from last year like you and I didn't want to apply for it. Now I applied without invitaion and they tuned me down twice. My brother got a couple of offers from them and he got approved instantly for $6000 plus 2% cash back bonus. You will get approve most of time when they sent you pre-select offers. You get denied if you don't have invitiation.

    Thanks Ron:)

But Juniper loves to pull Equifax, and my report has a TON of inquiries and I just lost 10 points for State farm reporting, down to 665, from what I have read that score doesn't seem high enough??

    bailey,

It is impossible to get approve without invitation. I'm feel sorry not taking invitation for getting the card and they dnied me twice because insufficient credit history. They need 54 months to get card approved. My brother didn't have 54 months and he get approved because he got pre-select offers from them. He got the 2% cash offer and BT offers like yours. They will not denied you again with invitation

Well I just got a phone call, they wanted to make sure I didn't really want to close my account, hellooo I didn't stutter with the previous rep, I stated LOUD and clear that I was rejecting their card with the insulting creditline, the rep said I tell you what I will give you a 1000.00 limit how about that, I said again this account is closed/never really opened, I don't want the card, you will never get my business or my money, goodbye!!

Resisting temptation can be hard. You may not even be thinking of credit, and then some bogus "prequalified" offer shows up in your mailbox. You start to salivate, the insulin starts to flow...and you end up applying.

Take Sears, for example. I applied unsuccessfully for their retail card in Jan. 2000. Each January since then, they have invited me to reapply. Last year, I got turned down again. I may still apply again this year, just to see how I'm doing. But in my heart, I know they're just teasing me, trying to induce another sucker to apply so they can turn him down. Then they can brag to top management about how selective they are.

    bailey,

I'm sorry to hear about that. My brother got an pre-select offer from them and he got approved for $6000.

    Hello!

    I'm new here!

I get those invites almost daily in my mailboz, and I think to myself they are really wasting trees, because it is not like they are going to approve me anyway. I don't have pretty credit and they still send me these things (invites, pre-appr, etc). I have applied for one or two things and of course they denied me. You know that crisp thin letter of rejection. I feel bad as it about my credit.
    OY!

    Newlife,

If you have bad credit, you need to get secured card for rebuilding your credit history. If you apply too much credit in a short period of time, they will denied you because excessive inquiries.

Members of this board often complain that preapproved offers aren't guaranteed, but in my experience they are vastly superior to any OTHER type of offer...4 of my 6 gas cards and 7 of my 10 bank cards came from preapproved offers. I've also never been turned down for a preapproved card.

I recommend to NewLife or anyone else that you return occasional "preapproved" offers, but never return a "preselected" offer. That term means only that you're on a mailing list.

"Preapproved," on the other hand, often indicates good faith on the part of the credit issuer, meaning that they actually intend to issue you credit absent any brand new derogatory items on your credit reports.

BTW thanks Ron on your reply for First Consumers, I have not applied for anything in awhile, just was reflecting on my past experience. I usually put those things through my shredder lol. I have been rejected from some secured cards as well, so I do not plan on applying for ANYTHING until I get some of these items completely paid off. It seems the less stuff that is off your credit the better my chances are in the future.
I was recently got lucky to get a checking account after a 5 year wait this month.
