Can someone please help me undertsand EXACTLY what this reply means?! The OC is no longer in business so when the CA tried to contact them in reference to my validation request they sent me a letter back saying they were going to......"close, return and unreport" this collection"And at month's end will report electronically to the three major credit bureaus that this account is to be "unreported" What exactly is unreport??? And if the OC is out of business, how is he going to close, return and unreport this account and to whom will he likely be doing this to???
Sounds like the CA will delete this info. If they put this writing keep the letter just in case you need to copy the CRAs on it. If it is not in writing request that the CA write you a letter detailing that they will delete this account. This CA sounds like they might be a little honest. But I may be mistaken.
The collection agency is Gulf Coast Collection Bureau. And yes they did send it in writing, so I have attached it to that particular file. I have just never heard of that term before. The letter is actually quite nice and oblidging. This account was from 1996, and due to come off end of this year anyway. Would be nice though if some of my other CA's were this cooperative. lol This was my first contact from my first round of validation letters to CA's, so I was pleasantly surprised and inspired.
We just sent a validation letter to Gulf Coast Collections. I haven't heard much about them except to see that they have an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB. How long did it take them to send you a response to your validation request? They have seriously re-aged our account, which should have already come off our report. So I guess I'm a little worried about dealing with them.
Gulf Coast is a tricky one. They have several aliases ... Palisade, OSI, Sherman Acquisitions, etc. Do a search and you will find all kind of posts about them. I recently got a letter from Gulf State "apologizing" and saying they would delete the entry in their next reporting cycle -- its been three weeks since they wrote the letter, and the item is still on there. I'm about to fire off another round to the CRAs and will definately include this letter to get it off, if it does drop off in a week (surley a reporting cycle is not longer than a month!). Also watch for them to reinsert it under one of thier aliases. (Again use the search function ... its happened to a lot of people.) hope this helps. peace, delilah
I don't think that is accurate. Gulf COAST Collections is not Gulf STATE Agencies/Collections. If you go to Sherman Financial's website, this company is not affiliated with them. As well, the BBB does not state that it is one of OSI's affiliates. From what I've been able to assertain, Gulf COAST Collections is its own company. They have teamed up with many medical billing agencies to handle their collections. I may be wrong about this, but after some research, I have not been able to find any relationship between these two. If someone has any additional information, I'd really appreciate it. I'd like to see a website or article that confirms it.
