I once sent in a preapproved application to CrapOne. I can't remember if it was platinum or gold. I got a nice card in the mail with a $200 CL and a significant ($39 I think) annual fee. I immediately callled to cancel, got kicked to retention. Instead of canceling the card, retention wanted to give me a CLI to $500. My immediate response was "I don't give a (feces) about any $500 CC, I just want to cancel the thing". "There's no need for profanity, ma'am, I'll cancel your account right away."
