I sent a validation letter to a creditor and got a response 10 days later asking me for a recent copy of my credit report before they could fully investigate the account.
My question: should I send them a copy of my report?
has the 30 day validation period officially started?
    how should I respond?
    any help is greatly appreciated

First of all, validations don't really apply to original creditors, but obviously they don't know that. However, I would write back stating, you are reporting this, therefore, for that reason, and per the FCRA and FDCPA, I have no obligation to do your verification. Obviously you can find no record of me or you wouldn't be asking for this info. I suggest you immediately delete the entry from my credit files at the 4 credit reporting agencies, and send me confirmation of such. Failure to do so in the next 15 days will result in my filing complaints with the FTC, my atty. general, the state banking dep't and filing a lawsuit for violations of the FDCPA and the FCRA.
