Hi Gang, All 3 CRA's recieved a dispute on 7/26. I got an "acknowledgement" from TU saying we will complete within 30 days. But today I got a rather strange notice from Exp. Aside from the typical "You bad boy you shouldn't hire a CRO", stuff they send to everyone I'm sure, I also got this "While you make payments on a collection account, the status will remian "collection". Once you pay the account in full, it will show "paid/collection". A paid collection account will remain on the report for 7 years from the initial missed payment that led to the collection." My question is, is this supposed to be a resolution to my dispute? Or is this just an acknowledgement, like TU's? There is no mention of the acct in dispute or even the fact that I have a dispute. It does have a report number I don't recognize. But my dispute was on a Pd/Collection acct. so I'm thinking maybe this is notice of their final resolution. Man! The CA promised they would NOT validate.
Butch - when I have rec'd those from EXP that is all that they did - explain how long it stays and how it updates. They never verified.
Thanx Melvina, "Butch - when I have rec'd those from EXP that is all that they did - explain how long it stays and how it updates. They never verified. " Then that must be their version of verification? They are required to send an updated copy of your report only IF there's a change, so there must be NO CHANGE! ALL I can say is this better not be their version of verification. LOLOL
They usually do not send an entire copy - they just send a cover sheet detailing what change occurred.
I haven't even recieved that... they received my dispute on 7/26 and they haven't acknowledged it at all. Kinda honks me off, but is there anything I can do? I hate playing the waiting game... prissypoo
prissypoo, I did not get their normal 'acknowledgement' of my last dispute either. Might be b/c it was done online??? Have you checked to see if anythings noted to be in dispute?
Love, I haven't checked. I just started on Experian, I've been doing my TU report for so long, I'm used to their methods... I mailed my dispute in, CRRR and I know they got it, I got the card back. If I had any guts at all, I would call them but I don't know if I'll be off the phone before the holidays. Is this a violation in itself? I know they received it, they aren't doing squat... and shouldn't the 30 day clock have started on the 26th? prissypoo
I pulled a EQ today. There is no evidence that a dispute is underway. My question is, is this supposed to be a resolution to my dispute? Or is this just an acknowledgement, like TU's? There is no mention of the acct in dispute or even the fact that I have a dispute. It does have a report number I don't recognize. But my dispute was on a Pd/Collection acct. so I'm thinking maybe this is notice of their final resolution. Certainly someone must be able to answer this???
Honestly Butch Dude, I don't have a clue. I've only ever received from EX the using an agnecy blurb that I ignored. Other than that, when I receive disputes back, it looks like a one page cover sheet -- you look and look for more and there isn't anything :-O. They don't provide you with a revised report. Only the 1 sheet stating what they investigated and listing, updated - remains - deleted. If something was updated, they include the tradeline with the new information on the back, that's it. No required toll free number for calling them either. If you didn't receive anything saying we investigated these items with this result -- I'd hang on until the 30 days are officially up and see if something else comes. Did you dispute online or via the mail? Did you happen to ask for the verification procedures if they were able to verify as part of your dispute? I'm thinking maybe that's their generic response to a procedural request and it got to you before the results did. Sassy
fancyyyyyyyyyyyyyy with your red fonts, Butch Dude, I like it, scores 4 stars for readability. I wanted to clarify that I've never received a new report even when something has changed -- they only list the changes on the reverse side. Of the 3, I like them the least -- the worst for me to work with. They did however delete my BK so I'll move them up the rung 1/4 notch. Sassy
Damn, That must mean this is their notice of final result. Since the backside says this page left blank then there is a no change, meaning they verified. The dang CA said they wouldn't.
Butch, it really sounds like they didn't actually reinvestigate, but sent you that bullshit letter instead. Just yesterday I got the generic procedure letter with the generic credit repair letter. On Friday though, I got my full report with some cryptic cover page about an account I had disputed three times. I am inclined to believe they are calling the dispute frivilous, but they still have the account marked as in dispute, so I'll have to wait and see. I think the credit repair letter must go out to anyone that disputes more than x times in a given period or something. Experian REALLY hates doing anything for the consumer, it's not where they make their money...
Butch, If that is what they consider to be notice of results of investigation, I believe that they are sadly mistaken. Where is the statement that the investigation is completed. I say nail their asses to the wall. (6) Notice of results of reinvestigation. (A) In general. A consumer reporting agency shall provide written notice to a consumer of the results of a reinvestigation under this subsection not later than 5 business days after the completion of the reinvestigation, by mail or, if authorized by the consumer for that purpose, by other means available to the agency. (B) Contents. As part of, or in addition to, the notice under subparagraph (A), a consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer in writing before the expiration of the 5-day period referred to in subparagraph (A) (i) a statement that the reinvestigation is completed; (ii) a consumer report that is based upon the consumer's file as that file is revised as a result of the reinvestigation; (iii) a notice that, if requested by the consumer, a description of the procedure used to determine the accuracy and completeness of the information shall be provided to the consumer by the agency, including the business name and address of any furnisher of information contacted in connection with such information and the telephone number of such furnisher, if reasonably available; (iv) a notice that the consumer has the right to add a statement to the consumer's file disputing the accuracy or completeness of the information; and (v) a notice that the consumer has the right to request under subsection (d) that the consumer reporting agency furnish notifications under that subsection.
Oh don't worry I will. I went ahead and signed up for CE on Thursday, to avail myself of Doc's Trick. The item has no indication of a dispute.
