Last August I disputed my auto loan tradeline with all three CRAs because it was showing one 30-day late payment. TU and EQ deleted the tradeline and EX verified the late payment. The next month I was able to get the creditor to remove the 30-day late notation. They updated all three CRAs but TU and EQ never reinserted the account. EX began to report it as a positive. I have been fighting with TU, EQ and AmeriCredit to get the tradeline reporting again. This is a four year loan that will be paid in full next month. AmeriCredit kept sending UDF forms to EQ and TU to no avail. TU finally told me on the phone last week that since it was deleted it would NEVER be reinserted. I finally was able to convince someone at AmeriCredit to contact their representitive at TU and EQ personally. I am told that the tradeline should be reinserted sometime next week. I'm hoping for a score boost out of this. I'll post what happens if/when the account is reinserted.
TU did the same thing to me. I have had no luck getting it reinserted. (And now they have started deleting positive CC accounts as well) I feel a great sense of accomplishment in my progress at Eq and Ex. Paying down debt and correcting inaccuracies has resulted in higher scores. But TU makes me feel like Sisyphus. I think they picked a score for me and that's it! My TU score for life.
This doesn't make sense. If you dispute a negative trade and they initially remove it due to no response .from vendor and then they reinsert it after Many times the vendor will report after the 30 days and they put it back on your report. Why does reinserting work for negatives but not positive accounts.
This is a good question. Americredit swears up and down that they've been reporting to EQ and TU all of these months, and then took the extra step of manually sending them a UDF, but still no dice. Yet people here have had negative items reinserted all the time. I agree it's very strange.
What's even more interesing... if a CRA deletes a negative account but the OC tape reports it and it gets reinserted, the CRA will yell "it's not our fault, it's still being reported monthly by our subscriber so we're not liable" Predisposition against consumers. A negative account coded for removal will reappear... but not a positive one. TU's stance on positive accounts is decidely unfair...
Disputing incorrect or N/A credit limits was how I got several great accounts nuked. Be very careful disputing positive accounts. It is unbelievably frustrating that when I dispute an old, closed Household account (that I have letters proving I closed!!) it always gets verified, certainly never deleted. But when I dispute the balance on my good, active accounts, they DELETE the entire record. I don't want to believe that the CRA are malicious. I WANT to believe that they are busy, and overwhelmed and that mistakes happen. However ..... (Big However) this is getting spooky.
The good accounts if still active will re-appear on the next TAPE update... Fear not, it will come back. however i use disputing positive accounts to my benefit, especially when they have large BT balances riding on them. So just be careful what you ask for you might get it In my case, i did get a positive tradeline carrying a hefty balance removed, and a 30 point increase too. I can't say i mind..

Maybe on Eq or Ex My auto loan was deleted from TU almost a year ago. The creditor has sent new updates & TU won't reinsert. Now the CCs I disputed (for incorrect balances) have vanished. Here's what the TU rep told me. If you dispute and the creditor doesn't respond on TU's dispute form within 30 days, the account is deleted. There is no way to get it back unless they respond ON THE DISPUTE FORM (in which case it will be coded a "late response") Updates won't work! New tapes won't work! I swear that this is what I was told. I'm pretty confident that our public officials have no clue how complex this credit stuff can get. The fair credit laws aren't designed for the abstruse Alice-in-Wonderland-Orwellian-Kafkaesque-Abbott & Costello-X Files universe of credit reporting. Of all the confounding aspects of credit reports--- the disappearing positive accounts have me the most miffed. (stepping off soapbox with sheepish grin)
It will NOT come back on TU. A postive account deleted on TU is gone forever (regardless of updates by the creditor) unless you force the issue with TU.
And if you send TU the letter from the creditor requesting the CRA to update your record and add the account. TU will write back: "Sorry, but the item you disputed does not appear on your credit report." SERIOUSLY!!! (I have the letter and will post the text) I quoted Alice in Wonderland once before, but some of these responses challenge anything Lewis Carroll ever wrote for absurdity. Or maybe that *other* doc (Doc Daneeka) was wrong when he told Yossarian that Catch-22 was "the best there is." The CRA Catch has to beat that one by a mile.
