Good morning, I just got back my update from Transunion. I had challenged the validity of 4 accounts that were showing as chargeoffs from 1997. Transuinion said they deleted 3 of the accounts, and 1 was verified. The problem I am having is I received two phone calls from some collection person over the past three weeks. I haven't heard from anyone in probably three years. Is this common to start getting calls after you challenge accounts on your credit report? I'm assuming the calls must be from the one they reported as "verified". I live in Florida and every account that shows as a chargeoff is from 1997...is there a statute of limitations of when you can't be sued any longer? I did not live in Florida in 1997 however, not sure if that matters. I want to challenge the remaining one's, but don't want to open up a can of worms. Can I keep challenging the others without any problems or should I cool it. I wanted to do Transunion, and clear up what I can, and then move to the other two but the calls threw me for a loop. We call it waking the beast. There is a statute of limitations, and it ususally pertains to the state you are in now. Suggestion - IMHO, when you challenge an account, challenge that account on all CR's it is being reported on. It will save you lots of time, and if the furnisher does something stupid on one, and not on the others, you can use it as leverage.
Thanks. I will see if Experian and Equifax gave me forms to use to challenge the accounts that Transunion deleted. I will see what they do. I will then take your advice and do all three at once next time.
