Could someone PLEASE help me! Like many others I am having trouble with my student loans. I was granted a retroactive forbearance in April 2001, that was back dated to November 2000. My credit report shows a 90day late in Feb/Mar and a 120 day late in Mar/Apr depending on the CRA. I called the provider Nelnet, and they told me that because the forbearance was not granted until April that they would not remove the deliquent report. I never received the forbearance granted letter, though everytime I call and talk to them about it they confirm that a retroactive forbearance was granted. I have some courses of action, only I have no idea in what order, or if there are other options. 1) dispute them as never being late with CRA, there are 10 of them so I don't think I can do them all at once. 2) request a issue/copy/reissue of the forbearance granted letter. I don't want to tip my hand too early and have them realize I don't have it. 3) write a letter of goodwill? requesting that the late pay be removed. 4) attempt a validation or send an intent to sue, or file suit, I have no idea. 5) Get up to date on payments, currently I am 45days past due. Might be more willing to remove with current status. Are there other courses of action I don't know about? The retroactive forbearance period clearly covers my deliquent dates. The lender DID say that they would send me a "Is Current" letter when I got caught up. I hope I get a lot of help on this one! Thanks in advance!
Here is my letter I am going to send: critiques? Dear Sir/Madame: I am writing to request a copy of the forbearance granted covering the period from November 2000 to April 2001. I never received a copy of the forbearance granted letter. My lease has come up and my landlord pulled my credit report, and needs to know why I have a large number of 90 and 120 days late. I have called your student loan customer service department several times requesting this letter, and have yet to receive one. Please ensure the dates the forbearance was granted for are included, and send to above address. Thank you for your prompt attention. Regards,
Have you called and ask to speech w/ a supervisor a the student loan co and explained your situation. I got no where w/ my forbearance problem until I did that. The reps just didnt know.
