Like a lot of people I've discovered these boards a bit late, and I am already invovled with a CCCS called Elimidebt. In any case, I have 11 credit cards which total about 37,000 worth of debt which I've carried for about 1 1/2 years now. I make 60k/yr, hopefully I'll get a new job to bump that up to 70+ and I have about 8k saved up. I cancelled the automatic debit that the CCCS does but not my contract with them. The cancellation should give me an extra 80 bucks to pay off my bills. I have a number of questions: 1) Is it possible for me to validate even though I am with a CCCS? (Does my beingwith a CCCS imply forfeiting my right to validate?) 2) Is it possible to have the Credit counseling line removed from my credit report? 3) Would the most effective strategy be to negotiate for a lump sum pay off? Thanks all
Also, is the damage because the CCCS does immoral types of things, or is it the fact that it says "Credit Counseling" that is causing the damage.

CCCS made 3 late payments on my 2 Providian accts. and i have had one hell of a time getting it straightened out. this happened over 1 year ago. CCCS sent a letter to me admitting the error....providian sent me a letter admitting that the mistake was not my own and they would update my credit file.....but since that happened equifax has shown my providian payments as being late 60-90 days for a total of 20 months dating all the way back to 1997. providian tells me on the phone yesterday that they never reported those late payments to equifax as they were not late.....equifax says they already investigated this once and found it all accurate and refuse to investigate anything further as far as my 2 providian accts. are concerned.....hope that this shows all of you just how screwed up this system is. any suggestions out there? i will sue if i can find a lawyer in atlanta, ga to take this on contingency....ed
