Okay I have had it up to *here* with these morons. They have verified this account not once, not twice, but T H R E E times to EX. It is not a valid account. OOOOOhhh...I can't wait to go on break so I can call them and give them a PIECE OF MY MIND. Okay now for the story....this is a collection account that they had for about 4 months back in '98. Then it was sold to someone else (Collection Company of America) in '99. Since then it has been paid. However, RMA is still reporting this on my credit report as a balance owed ($382), although it hasn't been updated since 1998. Still though, it should at least say "Account Sold / Transferred / Closed" or something along those lines. It is showing on my CR as open, balance due. I can't believe they would verify this. I'm going to call RMA and find out WTH is going on with them and then I'll call EX. I've disputed it as "duplicate", "paid", "no knowledge of account". Stop the insanity.....Matt.
After calming down and calling RM (and being hung up on twice), I finally got someone on the line that helped me. She is faxing me the UDF form and sending a deletion thru to Experian. If she actually does this, we will be in good shape. I'm crossing my fingers......
Matt, I am glad to hear you are probably going to be able to clear this up without much fight. It looks like I am going to have to take these morons (so, THAT'S what the "M" stands for) to court!! Gotta love RMA!! BTW, you wouldn't happen to have the name of the person you spoke with over there and their number, would you? :0) Keller
Her name was "Aqua" or something similar (I was on my cell and didn't have a pen on me but she sounded somewhat trustworthy). This is how I got through- I called the 1-866-866-4762 number and pressed "1" for the Sales department (this was after several failed attempts at doing things the 'right' way with their automated system and either getting voicemail or hung up on). I talked to a nice lady in the sales department and demanded I speak to an actual collections representative. She got this lady on the line and she was very apologetic and after putting me on hold, came back on and said they would delete and fax me the deletion form. I haven't received anything over the fax yet, but I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
