1785.11.2. (a) A consumer may elect to place a security freeze on his or her credit report by making a request in writing by certified mail to a consumer credit reporting agency. "Security freeze" means a notice placed in a consumer's credit report, at the request of the consumer and subject to certain exceptions, that prohibits the consumer credit reporting agency from releasing the consumer's credit report or any information from it without the express authorization of the consumer. When a security freeze is in place, information from a consumer's credit report shall not be released to a third party without prior express authorization from the consumer.
mane.. YES!! You will not be able to get the report on line w/CRA, only by sending request though mail!! But if you buy it though a 3rd party other than EX, EP..you can still get it...
Mrei- When my husband had a fraud alert on his report and tried to apply online, the company would PULL a HARD FIRST, THEN call to make sure it was him. I think there should be a system in place that makes the creditor call FIRST then pull a Hard inquiry.
KHM.. I couldnt agree with you more.. With the fraud alert we place on our file, the CRA should "alert" us when ever our file is being pulled, we shouldnt be paying $80/year for them to do that!
The CRA should allow you to put a pin # on the report and then you could give that to the people when you apply for credit.
