I have a collection account with RS Clark for $100 for Direct TV. They claim I did not have service for 1 year which I did. I sent a validation letter in July and got a statement with the amount and my credit card authorization. Is this validation? They reported to EQ and did not list the account as disputed. Is this a violation of the FDCRA? And I just received another letter for the debt. Isn't this continued collection activity after the dispute? What should I do next. I want this gone and done with. Do you have proof that you paid for the full year? If so, get it together and send a validation letter with the proof and a threat to sue. If they had a credit card authorization, why wasn't the credit card billed for the full year?
Might be some type of deal like the MSN promo with purchasing a computer ( they knock $400 off the price of the computer if you sign up for 3 years of service, and if you cancel before the 3 years is up, there is a penalty you have to pay) he got a dish for free/lower price, but had to keep service for at least 1 year.
