Can a creditor insist you send proof of payment by fax rather than by mail?

    I don't have a fax.

Of course its faster if you are disputing a bill

I know that but 3 times in the past year I've sent them copies of two canceled checks they didn't credit.
What I want to know is are they permitted to ignore this info simply because I mailed it instead of faxing it?
