Safe to dispute & write goodwill?

I am considering disputing some old 30 day lates on my Capital One card as never late.

I also have a 30 day late on my Providian card from April. However, when I paid them in May, I sent them $1400 of a $1600 balance. I'm thinking I may send them a goodwill letter right now while that $1400 check is fresh in their records.

Is it safe to dispute the Cap 1 lates with the CRA's now too, or will they catch on and see that I'm "up to no good" if they have to make too many changes at once?

What if the CRAs simply delete Cap 1 rather than removing the lates.

Well, I'm not sure what would happen if they just deleted Cap 1 altogether. The card's maxed out, and there are several 30 day lates on it. But it's also my oldest account and I'd lose 1.5 years of history (out of 4.5) if it was deleted.
