I just looked at my Experian report. Prior to today, Sallie Mae had four student loan accounts that they had verified. They were scheduled to remain until August 2004. As of today they have dissappearred! I have not recently disputed them. It's been four months since I've talked with anyone from Sallie Mae. These were loans that they took, defaulted, transferred then refused to delete after I rehabbed with the original guarantor. 30ft
Don't get happy. Sallie Mae is during SOMETHING with their credit reporting. Everyone has notices this on Experian today. Last week it was Transunion. I expect to see those tradelines back soon. I'd rather not see them back at all.
edoggies is correct. However, since your's are pretty old, they may not come back. I really hope this means that SM will finally learn how to report correctly...
I noticed the same thing with my experian today. I had 5 accounts with Sallie Mae listed and now I have none! I hope that will raise my credit. Credit expert score hasnt updated yet though. Crossing my fingers that the score will go up. But something tells me that it will go down :-( The fact is that those loans were listed as deferred- too new to rate...I think that's a good thing when it comes to scoring. However, if you do have to pay any of those loans, your score might get lower (they add more to your financial obligations). I think that's how it is, but don't quote me on that! It is a "mystery" to how the score formula works. Oh well...I guess I'll find out soon.
Just went to Experian to long onto Credit Expert.... Something is strange! As of 11am, I had 11 negs and my score was 539. Now, I only have 8 negs and my score is 546... But, now today I can't access my credit report so I don't know what was taken off!! ARGH!! I called EXP yesterday and asked to have all my old addresses deleted- they were all highlighted in blue last night and shown as being "under investigation". I had 2 Sallie Maes on there so that would explain 2 of the missing negs but what was the third? I rec'd an email from them saying they had my investigation results ready for me (I did have an investigation pending) but I've been blocked. Keep getting a "system error-try again later" message. My husband's been getting that for 2 weeks- started ever since I disputed some things online. We call EXP and they claim they have no idea what we're talking about. Tried pulling a trimerge on Privacy Guard and I'm blocked there, too! WTH?
I also had my SM TL updated. My TU TL is gone, EX and EQ had my late payment removed and i'm very happy. I had disputed SM with EQ and it came back verified, then it was gone. One quick question though, since my lates are gone if they try and put them back do they have 5 days to report the change? AJ
I don't want to get too happy about this, but unbelievably my score jumped 50 points with the deletion of the Sallie Mae tradelines. I had them in dispute and they are gone. My wifes are gone too but hers were never in dispute. So they will probably be back. My experian score in now (probably only temporarily) 606. I'm wondering if I should seize this opportunity to apply for a credit card. I guess I have to go research cards that pull experian and will approve with that score. Luke
This board really amazes me. For the last few days, I have been trying to figure out why the heck TU removed my SM student loans, and should I contact them to have them added back. Then I went to EX, and the same thing occurred. I have been away from the board, but decided to check and see what is the latest hot topics, and lo and behold, I see this thread! Even though my loan status is deferred, I am hoping they go ahead and just keep the loans off my report. They have reported incorrectly several times in the past.
Well, I guess I'll wait and see if they come back. I thought that I may not be the only one that had their Sallie Mae loans dissappear. I can't imagine how they would drop off like that--but I can't say I totally understand how SM communicates with CRAs. I disputed them off of my TU report in October and they've yet to return. By the way, I owe my scores, my prime auto refi, and overall credit education to you guys and to the information on this board and site. The number of deleted accounts is in the double digits (yea that's alot, but you know how student loans get reported) for all of my reports. Not to mention that my fico has jumped 140 pointson average for each CRA since June of this year. So, even if the SM accounts re-appear, I'm not gonna let it get me down!
Question is, Now that they have removed it, they have to notifiy us in writing 5 days before they reinsert or its a violation, is that correct?
Looks like SM is mass updating everyone-I'm willing to bet all these TLs will be back in the next 30 days. I'm going to pay REAL close attention to the DOLA they put on them once it's back on. SM is notorious for reaging...
I disputed mine as "rehabilitated" I sighted the Higher Education Act Sect. 646, etc.--though I learned later that that section didn't apply to my loan. (I didn't bother to tell them that, though.) I didn't expect for them to be deleted from TU as they were just verified on Experian. If for some reason they don't notify me five days prior, I think its worth a letter to hear their explanation.
The same thing happened to me. I checked friday and my sm loans were gone. They are good, old, no-late payment tradelines. I had 7 of them and they just disappeared. I am blocked on TU until wednesday so I don't know what my score is or if they are off there too. They're still on Equifax, though. I'm glad I checked here and now I see I am not the only one.
SM was having serious problems with their reporting programs (i.e., the "tape" they send the monthly updates to the CRAs with). This was very evident with TU. Thats probably why the SM lines on TU were the first to go, followed by the others. Maybe this means they'll stop reporting dispursements...
I too, saw that my 4 SM accts have been deleted from EXP. I do wish that they would stay off, but I know better! Fingers are crossed.
I had the same thing happen...sorta. I pulled my TU report last week, and the loans weren't gone, they had a notation that read "The following item is suppressed pending credit grantor update", but they are completely gone from my Experian reports. I will have my fingers crossed until they return. My TU was really screwed up so hopefully it comes back corrected, but my Experian actually had a few 30 days that weren't being reported.
