TU just responded to my dispute over late payments to Sallie Mae by "suppressing" the tradeline pending an update from the creditor. My TU score has jumped dramatically! I have a couple of questions though. Does suppressing an account mean nobody but me can see it? Why not just delete? Also, my Sallie Mae loan was paid in full in last November. There appears to be no reason left for Sallie Mae to ever report that account to TU. Am I now safe from having that trade line suddenly reappearing? I basically need to know if I should continue to dispute this so the lates come off, or if I should leave well enough alone? Thanks!
There appears to be no reason left for Sallie Mae to ever report that account to TU. robgold ><- <>- ><- <> ================= A neg. item can be reported for 7 years from when it occurred. Just simply paying the debt off will not knock the ding from your reports.
Re: Re: Sallie Mae Suppressed by TU?? I know that a negative item can be reported for 7 years, but now that the account is closed out and TU is suppressing what has been previously reported, my understanding is that the account will not reappear unless Sallie Mae issues a new report. Why would Sallie Mae issue a new report to any CRA if the account is now fully paid and closed? Also, I read that Sallie Mae doesn't report even active accounts to TU any more. Anyone know whether that is still true?
