I currently have credit card that is managed by a credit counseling agency (obviously, I did that before I found this wonderful site). The TL is all trashed, most notably the 150 late notation and is listed as a CO on on CRA. I called the company and they couldn't tell me what they are reporting to the CRAs, or at least the wouldn't tell me. Do do I do the same old 1-2, i.e. send the company a verification letter and dispute it with the CRAs as never late/ nto a charge off or never 150 days late/ not a chargeoff? Anyone ever try to clean up an account that is being managed by credit counseling?
I guess this means at least one other person is interested in the answer . Anyone have any thoughts? I'd really like to act on this quickly.
No CA involved. The credit card company (Citibank) won't negotiate any sort of payment plan or settlement while I'm still with credit counseling. I'd have to drop credit counseling, in which case my interest rate would skyrocket. And, even then, Citibank said they wouldn't work out a plan because I'm not past due. Pretty stupid. So, for the time being, I'll stick with it. But, again, I'd like to clean up the late notices. Should I go ahead and send a verification letter and dispute it was the CRAs as "not late (this) many times" or what?

Re: Re: Same Old Song and Dance? Thanks, but I think I have the basics down. I kind of thought this was more of an advanced question. But, still, it doesn't hurt to review and I did. So, you think I should send a verification letter to the OC and then dispute as "not mine"? Even if I was to get the TL deleted (via "not mine"), wouldn't it likely come right back since I'm currently paying it off via credit counseling? Sure, I could argue "failure to notify of me of reinsertion," but bottom line is that it'd likely come back. I really want to the get the lates cleaned up, but I'm wondering what procedure to execute in light of the credit counseling.
Re: Re: Same Old Song and Dance? Anyone? Again, I'm thinking about sending the OC a verification letter and the dispute with the CRAs as "never late." What do you all think?
Does your CR indicate that this is with a Counsumer Credit Counseling service? Yeah, I agree it's likely to return if deleted -- because you're making payments. Did CCC tell you that the cc would reage the account if you went this way? Sometimes they reage it (in a good way) to show that you were never late. Have you tried working through the CCC first?
Re: Re: Re: Same Old Song and Dance? If you do this and the OC don't respond to the CRA the CRA could delete the Trade line off your report.
Re: Re: Re: Same Old Song and Dance? But as soon as you make a payment, it will automatically report and be back on. It's an active account, included in the tape they send each month.
Re: Same Old Song and Dance On an active account that is reporting info each and every month -- all you can really hope for is goodwill. That's why I suggested that you go through your CCC agency. They are the ones that negotiated a lower interest rate, and could possibly negotiate a better TL too.
Re: Same Old Song and Dance Yeh, but if I get the CRAs to clean up the TL and then Citibank keeps reporting crap, can't I then hit on the CRAs saying that once they have cleaned up the TL they can't go back to repoting crap?
