Yup, it all depends on area. I once bought an item at a Dallas Sam's and it wound up not working 3 days later when I was in SoCal. SO I went to the Sam's in Riverside where my real problems began. First of all, I bought it using my MC. So when I hand over the receipt and the clerk sees method of payment was MC, she didn't know what to do. Neither did the head CS weenie, nor the asst mgr they called over. Finally the store manager on duty comes over. He sees my receipt and then proclaims it must be some kind of scam because no Sam's takes MC!

Bwaaaaahahahahahaha!!!!! Boy did I ever have fun chewing his butt for a good while! Especially after I made him call the original Sam's and talk to their store manager. The Dallas manager must have called him a thing or two because he asked to speak to me and apologized profusely for my ordeal in the California store!!! So, not only did I get a cash refund--because they had no way of crediting an MC account--but I also got a replacement item gratis thanks to the intervention of the Dallas manager :)

SAMS AND WAL*MART NOW TAKE EACH-OTHERS CARDS...

If you have an old SAMS (charge card) W/O a MAGNETIC STRIPE, you need to go to SAMS and get a new card BEFORE you can use it at WAL*MART...

Oooh, I've been to that Sams Club several times. I've returned a few items as well and ALWAYS had some kind of hassle.
I bought a floor item once, when I got to the register it rang up at a much higher price. I said it was the floor model and the sign over it was for another price. She sent somebody over and they brought back the little metalic sign with the price on it. It was written on the back of the regular price in black marker and then put inside their little plastic thing. She said "how do I know you didn't just write in this price". Man did I go off!!!!! Like I'm going to walk in there with a black marker, remove their sign, write the price I want on it, put it back in and then scam them at the register. After I threw my hissy fit they gave it to me for that price. I really really really wanted it and it was a great deal, otherwise I would have walked out. Oh well, I know this is all OT.
Anyway, the Sams out in this area all see to take Visa. Costco only Costco/Amex. Costco gas used to take all credit cards but there was just a sign up saying the were going to start accepting only Amex/Costco & Costco Cash (whatever that is).

We made our first visit to a Sam's club about two weeks ago. Went to sign up and were told they only take Discover. I couldn't believe it! Upon further interrogation, the clerk said that in some metropolitan areas, they take Visa, but most don't. So, being low on the green stuff, I hand her my Mac card. Well, she runs it through and the system is down. So I end up having to write a check. And all this is just for the club fees. Then last week, I get a "pre-approved" offer for the Titanium Discover with 0% on transfers and purchases till Feb 03. CoWinkieDink? I think not. It's a Sams Club/Discover conspiracy!

Actually, it probably was a coincidence because not all Sam's clubs take Discover.
