Anyone been successful in satisfying a judgment at a discount. Or is it too late to deal once it has gone that far? I was able to dispute it off the CR but need it satisfied for a home closing.
Its just like any other debt. You can use your negotiating skills If they have a hard time finding you, they cant collect anyways. so offering to pay might work. BUT, the credit report is NOT where the mortgage co is looking The companies search county records and online "lien/judgment" sources. The mortgage co just want to see that is has been "satisifed" so your title is not "clouded"
Find someone who buys judgments and (for a commission) have them approach the judgmentholder to buy the one they hold on you. If you do it directly, egos get in the way. Indirectly (and as an undisclosed principal), you might luck out.
Yes, I learned the title companies do a search and don't consider the CRA's accurate at all. What a surprise. It's not that difficult here to find the information. Cook County Illinois has just gone online with ALL civil court data. No signup, password or anything needed other than last name. I know this is public info but this makes it a little too easy for relatives, neighbors and whoever to dig up the dirt. As for the judgment I'll test out my negotiation skills.
