Scariest Telemarketing Call Ever Made On Monday morning, a man in Evergreen, Colorado answered his phone. It was a telemarketer hawking Qwest long-distance telephone service. The man said he wasn't interested and hung up. Angry that the man hung up on him, the telemarketer, who worked for the telemarketing firm Teleperformance USA, called back and left a voice mail--and a death threat. "He was threatening with four-letter words," the man's wife, who asked not to be identified, told the Deseret Morning News. "He threatened to kill us, to rape me, and that he'll come find us. It was just extremely disturbing. The gist is, 'If you mess with me again, I'll find you and kill you so you can't do anything else.'" There IS hope. Find out about the quest for a national "do-not-call" list. Get on this and no telemarketer would be allowed to call you. The Colorado man contacted Qwest which in turn was able to identify the telemarketer who had made the threats. "It was completely inappropriate and violates everything we do and what we stand for at Qwest," Qwest spokeswoman Rebecca Tennille told AP. "When we were made aware of it, we immediately took action. We are outraged and do not tolerate this type of behavior." The matter is now under investigation by the local police, and the family wants the FBI to get involved. The Supreme Court has ruled that telemarketers can be prosecuted for fraud when they do THIS. Click to find out what it is. "We feel our safety has been compromised. The man has our phone number, our address, our first and last names," the Colorado woman told AP. "He has more information about me than I do about him. I felt very safe until now. Now we will have to go through the cost of having an alarm system put in. We are just very concerned." The telemarketer was fired from Teleperformance USA, and Qwest has canceled its contract with the company.
I had a telemaketer call to sell me on a credit card. I just hung up. Then he called backed and left a nasty message. Used the F bomb alot and cursed me out for being a *****. My jaw was to the floor listening to it.
COLORADO has a DO NOT CALL LIST...but I don't know if that applies to "THE" local phone company or it's agents...
The other day I read a news article about a woman working at a burger king that followed a rude customer into the parking lot and beat her up. Clearly this telemarketer was way out of line. In my opinion he should serve some jail time for that. But let's be real. This story is not an indictment on telemarketing. This story is about one loser who couldn't handle his job.
