Beginning in May 2001, I have gotten over 40-50 deletions (including inquiries on EX & TU) via online disputes. Some of you may remember my string of almost 2 dozen INQs removed from TU a few months back. I just got 2 more old charge-offs removed today. Once my student loans are rehabbed, I'll have 99% clean reports, except for that darn CH7 from 1997. I've said this before and I'll say it again for the benefit of any newbies - with patience and effort, it can be done. I did not believe this until I found this board - thank you again.
By the way... the 2 charge-offs I just had removed were from 1999 and each was for $4K. Any idea how many points I'll gain when the 30 days is up and the items actually come off?
Ok, I am one of the newbies. Just started reading this board and looked at my first report online at Experian. Couple questions for you: 1) I have 10 negative items and 7 positive items. Is that real bad? 2) What items can I request that Experian remove from my report? Is it recommended to click the 'dispute' button online? What are usually the result in doing so? 3) I have 3 'Requests Viewed By Others' and 18 'Requests Viewed Only By you'. Do these impact your credit negitively? Can I get these removed? Thanks Dunderhead
The requests viewed only by you do not afffect your score. The requests viewed by other MAY affect your score, depending on how old they are. What are the negatives? I've done just about all of my disputing online and have had fantastic results so far. I've raised each of my scores over 100 points since May 2001.
Thanks for the assistance! Here are my negatives: 1) BK in 1997 2) Capital One: A couple 30 days & 60 days. I currently still have this card, can I still Verify/dispute? 3) Citibank MC - Closed in BK 4) Chrysler - one 30 day late car payment 5) Two Medical CA's, both of which I'm am slowly paying 6) Providain - 30 day notices (Card was paid off and closed last year) 7) Washington Mutual (mortgage) - One 60-day 8) Credit Union Visa - two 60 days, multiple 30'days What do you suggest I do? Will I have to pay for another online report in order to dispute/verify any of these with experian? Thanks for the help! Dunderhead
Yes - dispute any that you can on-line that are late (30-60 days). Claim you were never late. If you do it by letter, make it very vague, i.e. I was never late (That way if it's verified, you can redispute it by saying I was never 30 days late, etc. and they'll have to redispute it). Not sure about the cards closed in BK - Doc, LKH or Marie would be more helpful. I'm still in my first round and I've already had a 60 day late removed from 4/99 and 5/99... GT
For the newbie: To many prime companies, the way they look at negatives is: . Many unpaid Negatives = really bad . Few unpaid negatives = really bad . One unpaid Negative = really bad . Paid Negatives really old = semi-bad negative being (chargeoff collection or major late). So you can't quantify 10 baddies to 2 baddies, many prime companies don't care how many you have, but that you have them at all.. Only when they are all gone will your "bad credit" be over to speak of. not to say you can't get lots of credit, with baddies, but it will be much harder, even if its only 1 $500 collection from 5 years ago. I'm stuck in that boat now...
hey Sam - any idea how long they look for?? I have many lates, but they're past 2 years ago. Just curious... GT
Thanks for the info! Will I now have to pay Experian again so that I can go in and dispute those? If so, that isn't right. I just paid today.
1. Try to find some error with the way the CRA's are reporting you BK, best to speak to Marie or Nana about this (I believe they just someone else BK deleted for some MINOR error). 2. Planetfeedback.com Cap One and ask for a goodwill adjustment. Mr. Cooke or Mr. Miller SHOULD email you back requesting you call they are very easy to work with. 3. Citibank- not sure about this one (again look for inaccuracies) 4. If you figure this one out LET ME KNOW CFC will NOT remove late pays on hubbys report (due to exwife being vendictive b!tch) 5. How much do u owe to CA's? If you can offer to pay in full for deletion. If they say no, then put them to the bottom of the payback list. (assuming its not thousands of $$) 6. Providian- either PFB them or send a letter to them asking for a goodwill adjustment, maybe even see if they will reopen your account (if it was an acct established for several years) 7 &8. Again ask for a goodwill adjustment. Just my ideas on this, you are obviously free to do it another way, but with the accounts that have 1 or 2 late pays I say the goodwill adjustment is the way to go!
