What kind of score do you need to get a prime card.. I'm low 600's and have gotten declined for retail cards.. I don't bother now, don't need to lose any more points for inq's, just curious why I am always DECLINED !!

It depends on the CC as to what score. Some like Citibank use an In House credit score. So it's hard to just give a score.

The reason you are being denied might not be your score at all. It might be that you have new CO on your CR and etc. Have you pulled your CR when you get an denial to see whats on there?

I think, not 100% sure, they are required by law to disclose to you the reason why you were declined. Some will usually send the reason via mail later or you can just call them up to find out why, I believe.

Many prime lenders like 680+ score with nothing bad, few inquiries, and low debt ratio.

650'ish can get you in with amex starter credit card.

citi will approve about anyone with no recent derogs and a good history.

Whenever you get denied for a credit card, you must get a denial letter within 60 days. Usually you will get this letter within 14 days. With this letter in hand you can write and get a copy of your credit report free from the bureau the prospective lender pulled your credit from. You send a copy of the rejection letter along with your letter. You may also want to include your:

    NAME
    CURRENT MAILING ADDRESS
    SS #
    DOB
    HOME PHONE NUMBER
PREVIOUS ADDRESSES FOR PAST FIVE YEARS

TWO PROOFS OF CURRENT MAILING ADDRESS ATTACHED

The postmark on your letter must be within 60 days of the date on the rejection letter.
