i tried to signup for scorewatch today and it says theres not enough information on me to give me a fisco score! this is the message i got: At least one account which has been open for six months or more. At least one account that has been updated in the past six months. No indication of deceased on the credit report. does this work in my favor, or against me, or is this neutral?
A lack of a FICO score definately works against you. I will presume that you do in fact have a credit report with tradelines and that scorewatches' response to your request was erroneous. Right now, you appear to any potential as having no credit history. You will not find many lenders fund your requests as is. With that said there a two probable scenarios and courses of action: 1) Your Equifax file is "locked." This is an all too common problem that has been occuring very frequently as of late. You may look into it and see if that's what is going on here. Check your Trans Union and Experian files to see if there online. You can access your Experian report for free at http:www.experian.com/reportaccess. Just click the "Get my report" button and fill in the applicable info thereafter. 2) You may have no credit profile with Equifax and/or others. Is your history sparse? If it is, the best way to bolster your scores and reports quickly is to be added to aged accounts with positive histories. You may consider asking a friend or relative to do so. Another alternative is to pay for this service but I would not pay the going rates I've seen online. You'd be better going the secured route such as you are know unless you are simply desparate for a decent FICO immediately.
