    Hi,

I just received a packet of stuff from Sears regarding a change in the terms of my account. Supposedly, coming this fall/winter, they will offer balance transfers and cash advances, and oh yeah, my rate goes up to 21.9%.

Doesn't really matter, since I use their 0% offers mostly, and won't close the account. But does this mean that I will be getting one of those Sears mastercards? Has anyone else gotten this type of notice?

    Thanks.

I also use the card only for special 10% off days and 0% for a given amount of months offers...

    SEARS MASTERCARD??? DON'T KNOW.
If they dump the SEARS CARD they would lose lots of customers...but on the other-hand, you can't use your SEARS CARD @ 7-ELEVEN or TARGET or TEXACO GAS STATION or the cleaners...

I received it also & not certain if they will change out existing cards;the way I perceive it,they will either change cards or add add'l cash line to existing cards.

    Sears Master Card

I received the letter from Sears mentioned that I have been pre-approved for Sears Gold Master Card and it will be sent to me automatically if I don't call them within 1 month. So I called then they told me that they will close my existing sears card then replace with New Sears Gold Master Card also the hard inquiry to be pulled even I have sears card already. Anyway, I don't want it and asked them not to do so.

    Hope this help.

That surprises my since Discover is a Sears subsidiary.. Why would they create a Visa or MC to directly compete with them?

    George,
Sears sent my brother Sears Gold Mastercard in the mail to replace his Sears card and I didn't get one from the mail. I called Sears Gold Mastercard customer service number that they told me I don't qualify for it. They told me they pick you and you cannot apply from the web and the store.

    OK...IT'S THEIR SECRET.

A TEST MARKETING THING...means they will see how it goes, if everybody does what they want them to do...they will probably "KILL" the SEARS CARD AND GIVE EVERYBODY THE MASTERCARD.

RUMERS ARE TARGET IS THINKING OF DOING THE SAME THING.

So that's why I got a HARD inquiry from Sears last October. Too bad they don't actually use their brains, my Sears card has been a charge off for over a year.

    Chris B,
Sometimes they did a hard inaquiry on your credit report because they try to collect their money from you. In the card agreement, they make any inquiries in the purpose of reviewing, collection or the extension of credit.
