6 months ago (you may remember) I griped and moaned about Sears giving me a $250 limit on my gold MC-- while I have an $18k limit on my Premier store card. I called Saturday to close the "TOY" card, and when transferred to retention, I explained why. The nice woman - not even a supervisor - asked for my Premier account #, looked it up, and said "you've had this account for 5 years - I don't see why we can't close your current gold MC, then convert the Premier card to a gold MC." Sure enough, when I checked it online, not only has it been converted, but the credit line was bumped up $2k and the APR is 13.74%. She also stated that the existing promo. balance ($0/0% until October) would be transferred to the MC the same way. Not the best rate- but not totally bad either. Anyone out there who has an active Sears card that's more than a few years old and wants to convert - I'd suggest calling. They seem to have changed their policy from "only when the computer converts you" to "let's look and see" Good luck- mj
JUST A STUPID QUESTION...why couldn't you get $18,000 if you closed the SEARS STORE CARD??? [edit] ME BAD...you got $20,000 now??? I read it as you got $2,000 more on the $250........$2,250 total...
