Ok, partner got one. He has EQ score of 670. No derogs, no lates, and loads of good cards (all at 0-15% usage):

    Chase Plat V - $15k @ 9.49 (8/99)
    Amex Blue - $20k @ 9.9 (10/99)
    Chase Shell MC - $10k @ 11.49 (10/00)
    Discover - $10k @ 12.9 (1/00)
    Target V - $7.5k @ 15.9 (7/99)
    Next V - $11.5k @ 9.9 (11/99)
    MBNA V - $7.5k @ 0% (12.9 after Sept.) (1/02)

Sears Gold MasterCard (drum roll please ...)

    $500 @ 21.9

    WOO HOO... N-O-T!

Unbelievable. I have him as an AU on my Sears Premier - $18k - didn't make a dent.

I called to ask Sears "WTF" and she read me the same reason codes from EQ that I was reading - almost word for word.

    - Too many inquiries (we did a refinance and he has a couple of card inquiries)

    - age of accounts (most of the good ones are 1-3 years old)

I asked "you've got to be kidding - Target card with 15x the limit and 6% lower APR??? She claimed nothing that they can do- check back in 6 months.

I'm still waiting to see what they offer me after I sent in the address verification they asked for.

All I want is my current account upgraded to a Gold MC, with reward points program, at a lower APR.

    --- Question ---

Anyone else apply - are they being generous or stingy? Are the only good offers those that come as upgrades to existing Sears accounts?

    Thx-
    mj

My parents have a $9800 line with them. And hear this, they have a 12.9% apr for sears purchases and 11.9% for other purchases. Now does that make sense?

Last year, I applied for Sears Gold Mastercard and they approved for $3510 with APR 21.9%.By the way, the highest MC rate that I have.I only used in Sears store to take advantage 0% financing. I had Sears Premier Card for 2 yrs with credit limit $4580. Just like George said My Target Visa has better rate 12.9% APR. I got other Patinum card better than that. I asked them to lower my rate and they said "NO".

$500...I thought my "TOY" card was bad @ $1,000 (STATE FARM).

They did something about their "ERROR IN JUDGEMENT" when I disputed it with EXPERIAN...

    "DID NOT ACCEPT ACCOUNT"...PLEASE REMOVE.

I still haven't got the $5,000 card, but the phone line says $5,000...

    George,

Three years ago, Capital One approved me $200 credit limit Visa card and they charge me annual fee of $29.00. I dumped them after I got Yahoo! Visa (with $2000 credit limit).

Are you sure they are sending a new card?
Your account number should remain the same only a with a higher limit.

    George,

Be patience. My State Farm Bank Platinum Card was approved on Dec 29 and I remember they told me they mailed at Jan 4. I received at Jan14. It took a while for you to get the card. They told me I was approved for $5000 when I called in.

    George,

I would "assume" that a $5,000 line would mean "Platinum" status;therefore, your card # should change from the regular card they attempted to send you.

    Ok--- I thought my partner's $500 was a joke...

After address vereification, I was APPROVED.

    FOR $250 @ 21.9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An $18,320 limit on my Premier card, and now $250 on the MC???????????????????????????????????????

I spoke with 2 customer service reps who were shocked - but unable to do anything.

I may PFB them, but a letter to the home office in Hoffman Estates may be in order.

Deny the damn thing... but don't insult me.

    B of A $12k 10.4%
    First Chicago $10k 9%
    NextCard $12k 9.9%
    Fleet $11k 9.5%
    FNANB Visa $8.7k 15.9%
    Target Visa $7.5k 15.9%

George, I know how you felt about State Farm now!

DO NOT EVER ACCEPT A CARD AT $250 OR $500 unless this is your very first card...and you make no more than $10,000/year.

Tell them that they have made a mistake, your next highest credit limit is $X,XXX and you do NOT need a "TOY" card, so CLOSE THE ACCOUNT!!!

George - I used your words exactly "this is a toy card" ... and when she tried to xfer me to a retention specialist, it disconnected.

It's not worth my time to follow-up with it, except for the fact that I'm insulted and pi**ed off now!

Now why did I just buy $2500 in appliances there???

(well, the 0% for a year did have something to do with that one...)

My friend had an unpaid tax lien of $19,900 reported since 93 and a paid collection on his report which enable him to get approval.... sounds pretty ridiculous and laughable, right??

Now, the report that Sears pulled which sucks big time are those crappy secured cards, that are Cap One, Prov Visa, Prov MC, FNBM, FP, and a couple of small retail cards.

The reason why he was approved ( according to his logistics theory ) was the beginning when he planned to charge a Desk Top with his Prov card. The CSR pushed him to applied for an Sears card which has a 10% discount saving... and he was like.. been there, been denied before, and would not hesitate trying for the 4th time disregarding the disappointment.....Haha!..and wham bam!...approved!! $2,800!! ( store card )

For me...this is depressing! Can't get a whopping $50 increase in 7mos in their lack of inadequateness and incompetency.
