Sears just sent me a notice regarding wife's account - going to raise APR from 13.99 to Prime + 13.24%.

Who can I call? Planet Feedback help any?

I was looking forward to the Sears buyout by Citibank, but I'm not sure I can wait too long for combining credit limits.

    Any and all responses appreciated!

Did they give you a reason? Has she been late, over the limit, etc?

If there was no good reason, you'll have more leverage.

    1) DEMAND 13.99% BACK

    or

    2) CLOSE IT

Start with the number on the back of the credit card...ask for a SUPERVISOR

    PFB might work

Never on this account - 1 day late last month, but certainly never over 30 days EVER! Never overlimit EVER. It just goes to show that some companies are customer oriented, and some are not.

Well I wouldnt rush to close the account, if it is a positive tradeline with a long payment history.. No one says you have to use the card.

From my own experience and from what I have read, Sears wont care if you close the account, so threatening them will likely have no result.

I would try the nice approach, call customer service, if no luck try writing a planetfeed letter. If still no luck, you some what out of options.. You have no leverage with them as they dont care one way or another if you keep the account, if they did they would not have raised your interest rate the way they did.

    Best of luck

The only problem I have is that we are already carrying a balance on the card - and we have NO WHERE to move it too! We haven't been putting any NEW charges on it, but we don't want to pay a higher APR if at all possible.

We'll keep it until the Citibank merger is complete, then we'll combine limits to one card. Until then, we might have to carry that balance at 17%.
