When I started credit repair in Jan I noticed my Sears Mastercard acct was still open (had no idea and no card) so I called and got a new card and found out the interest rate is 13.2%

Needless to say, that stinks and I called CS today to see if I could get a better rate for BT- she said tough noogies, nothing can be done.

Ok, guess it will sock it away in the sock drawer!

or is there someone else to call? I have a $7300 Chase acct I would like to sever all ties with.

any ideas? will retention work on an account that hasnt been used in probably 2 yrs? Its my oldest acct '88 so I am not closing it.

    Thanks

    Hello Irish,

Actually your apr is really good compare to mine I got an 17.40% apr on my account... I had the account since 01/02 I don't use it much except for sears purchases or if they offer me a good bt I might take advantage of it... they do give good credit line increases if you qualify every six months... I have gotten 2 credit line increases from them so far without asking so a 13% is still okay yup I try to talk to several cs reps and had no luck they told me that they do not offer that and they do not have a program to lower it at this time... oh well good try I guess....

    Thx,

    Kev

We've had a sears MC acct since 2001 (standard card since 1999) and our rate is 13.74%!!! I emailed them a letter through our log-on with sears, and they declined a rate reduction!

that's okay. We just got approved for Chase Platinum $4000 with 0% APR for 15 months. We don't want sears anymore. It is my highest APR of all my credit cards, so they are not on my good list of creditors.

OK, so I am going to have to take the plunge and go for the Citibank 0% offer. I was trying to take the easy way out and not have to go through a new account. Guess not. Thanks for your help!

Actually, the more I think about it, I guess they could give a rat's patootie on if you are a good customer...in all that time I didn't realize it was open, they never once sent me a letter/notice/ad to get me to use it again. Weird.
