I got an offer in the mail today to apply for a Sears card (up to $4,000 limit -- HA). The part they want me to fill out only has a place for my SSN and a signature and there is a little "application code" sticker they want me to peel off and stick on the return part. One of my old charge-off accounts is Sears. Anyone else get this? I don't see anything on it that indicates in any way that they pre-screened my credit, so I think it was just a random mailing. I don't intend to send it in.
hey there...just saw your post...we talked about this offer not too long ago....I got that offer a couple months ago and took them up on it---if I remember correctly, no one reported NOT getting the card when accepting their offer. I have gotten two more such offers from them since the first--but in my name, as opposed to my husband's. Oh, our credit line is about $800.00. AnnMarie
my husband replied to this offer and DID NOT get the card. He has a public record on his report also the denial stated utilization of credit which is probably the cap 1 account just opened. Guess it depends on your credit.
Thank you both. I don't really need any more credit right now, and with your help I've torn up the application and thrown it away.
My THIRTEEN year old son received the same offer as well, I called them up and gave them an earful. mom
