That is what the ad says from Sears. Up to $4000. I am ready to throw this in the trash even tho I would like to have the card. I just don't believe they are giving these out to credit damaged people like me. Why did I get the offer and my husband didn't? Anybody out there get a Sears card recently after being 'preselected'.
"PRE-SELECTED" TO APPLY... I can't even get a LIMIT INCREASE with perfect payments on my SEARS store card since 1979!!!
George, What is your limit if I may ask? My impression is that Sears is hard to get and obviously they don't give increases. Then there are the scandals I read about here at Creditnet. If I really thought this offer is legit, I would apply. But I don't think it is legit. After all why waste an inquiry.
I got this offer about 1 1/2 years ago and applied. My credit at the time stunk. I was denied. Since then, I have received this offer 3 or 4 more times, yesterday being the most recent. In the trash it went.
$5,300 I just filled in the on-line request... THEY DID A "HARD"...even though they do "SOFT" every single month on TRANS UNION!!! I asked for removal on-line e-mail...THEY SAID FAX THEM THE PROOF!!! WHAT ARE THEY SMOKIN' ??? (I HAVE TO PROVE THAT THEY DID AN INQUIRY)??? OTHERS HAVE NOT HAD A "HARD" PULLED!!! "GEORGE FACTOR"
REQUEST FOR LIMIT INCREASE... Last 4 digits of Primary Cardholder's Social Security Number: First 5 digits of Zip Code: (accepts international codes) 3-Digit Verification Code (see image): They have no idea where I work... They have no idea how much I make... THEY ALSO HAVE NO IDEA I MAY CLOSE THE ACCOUNT OVER THIS (IF THE INQUIRY IS NOT REMOVED)!!!
Preselected means your name is on some list they bought, it doesn't mean they're going to give you a card. And the horror stories you hear are true. If anything ever happens to you, and you can't pay their card off, they will come after you with a vengeance, and they do not quit. Even when people take bankruptcy, they show up at the hearings to get their money any way they can. Avoid them, even when your credit is good.
I contacted Sears today by telephone. They informally told me just what you have stated. I tore the offer up and shredded it. If I get more of these offers like LK did, I will shred them too.
SEARS is one of my oldest (1979)... I only use it for 10% off days or 0.00% for some number of months...
