My wife and I have had a joint account with Sears for over 30 years, credit line of $6500. They just sent me a new card a few weeks ago. Yesterday she got a letter from them saying that if she wanted to keep her card, she should fill out the application, they would do a credit check, and they may approve her for up to $5000.

This was definately a renewal, not an application for their new Visa or Mastercard (I forget which one they are offering).

We always pay the Sears bill in full when it comes. What is going on here? I have never seen this before or heard of it happening. My scores are in the high 600"s - hers are much better.

Maybe they want to give her a card in her name only too?

Thats a possibility. When we got it over thirty years ago, the cards were normally issued to the huband and the wife could use his card. I will look and see what name is on her card.

Check for an added compulsary arbitration agreement also.
