what's the best secured credit card? Preferably one without high approval fees. I plan to pay off in full each month. It should report to all 3 CRA's.

I was going to get FCNB, but for some reason, people from NC are not eligible.

    Thanks!

Cap1 didn't charge an application fee. I am pretty happy with them, they were responsive in reversing some fees that Transunion fraudulently charged on my Visa.

Also, they were the only ones that would give me a partially secured card. So that helps too.

Probably the best feature of CAP1 is that they report as unsecured. Their consumer advocate office is also great, and they even returned my annual fee after I had proven myself to them.

I also have a Wells Fargo secured card. They also report as unsecured, but are a lot less flexible with their terms, So I wouldn't reccomend them.

Do you have negative credit? If you have little or no credit, I would try Chase or even possibly Citibank. Chase only caters to those w/ little or no credit so if you have negatives, forget about them. I personally got my start in the credit world w/ a Citibank secured card.

Also, if you are a credit union member, talk to them. One of the CUs I belong to will give you a fully secured Visa without even pulling a credit report. The fees and interest are the same as on the CU's standard Visa.

A lot of CUs offer secured cards, and many of them have good deals on those cards.
