Actually, I've never thought about it. I have a secured Capital One I got in 97. I never asked for it to be changed, and Iknow it was "secured" last year because someone wouldn't let me defer payments with it. It does not report secured on my CRA, any of them.
Just got off the phone with Orchard Bank/Household and you can be approved for between $200 to 15,000 depending upon your security deposit and the representative told me that only you, the cardholder and the bank would know that the account is secured, because the bureaus would report it as a "Household Bank" account with NO secured notation, although the plastic card in your hand would be "Orchard Bank" which is a subsidairy of HSB.
