I am sending my first validation request to a CA called NCO. Is anyone familiar with them. Can someone maybe give me a heads up as to what I should expect. Also, after the thirty days has ended what is my next step? Please help......
Hi Robin, Depends on the collection. I'm not sure about NCO, but if it's an unpaid collection they'll usually verify...if they can. Also I hope you sent it Certified Mail Return Receipt (Keep a record of everything!) If it's paid, then don't expect anything from them - if they do send something more than likely it'll be a computer printout, which doesn't count. After 30 days, send the estoppel letter (Validation 30 days later). If they still do not respond, then dispute with the Bureaus, and send them a copy of 1) Both letters sent to the CA, 2) Green cards that show you sent them and they signed for it. Bureaus should delete it since the CA's didn't verify within the time frame, however, don't be surprised if they dispute it - but by this time it should be removed. Good luck with this... GT
Robin, When I sent a request for validation to NCO they removed their tradeline from my report, without responding or telling me. I should say the collection was way past the sol, and ready to fall off my report within a year. Just MAKE SURE you're creating your audit trail when doing this. Meaning: send initial validation return receipt and send estoppel return receipt. If they don't validate, ignore you, or respond, you have them by the short and curlies. File Suit immediately.
